I’ve recently become a big fan of middle-grade novels. There’s just something so comforting and easy about them that makes me enjoy them so much.
Ollie is the sad girl in her 6th grade class. She didn’t used to be but after her mother passed away last year she hasn’t been quite the same. She has become isolated and sunken into her love of reading. After she finds a book under strange circumstances, the story within the book starts to show up in her real life by way of a school field trip to a local farm. Can Ollie make it through her field trip unharmed by the story, or will she be trapped in something far more unnerving than the farm’s scarecrows?
Small Spaces is 220 pages long and took me 2 days to read.
This book was so much fun to read! I’m giving it a 4 out of 5 because it honestly gave me the creeps and I love Ollie’s tough exterior attitude. She feels like a real 6th grader that’s going through a difficult time. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys some creepy vibes but not enough to give them nightmares!
Thank you so much Penguin Young Readers for sending me this copy!
Here’s to the adventure of finding a novel novel!
