Gillian Flynn gives me the creeps. I should specify, her writing gives me the creeps. Most know her from writing the incredible Gone Girl but before that she wrote Sharp Objects.
Sharp Objects main character is Camille who has recently been released from a psych ward. On her first reporting assignment at her small time paper after her release is covering the murder of two young girls in her hometown. Naturally, shes not in the best place mentally to be working on a disturbing murder story, but being with her controlling mother while this takes place certainly doesn’t help her mental state. She prays she can keep it together long enough to make it out alive.
Sharp Objects reads at pages long and took me two days to read.
I give this novel a 4 out of 5 for it’s Gillian Flynn twist. She truly knows how to keep me turning the page.
