Jackaby-William Ritter

I’m usually not a Young Adult reader simply for the fact that I have it stuck in my mind that YA novels are for just that, young adults! But I’m trying to get over my fear of feeling weird about reading them and this book was a great start!

Abigail Rook is not your old fashioned girl in 1892. In fact, she is ahead of her time and demands to explore the world and its mysteries. When she finds herself in New England without shelter or job, she starts to scope out local businesses. After being turned away too many times to count, she stumbles across an investigative services assistant position. Meeting the employer,

R. F. Jackaby officially for the first time, Abigail finds herself fascinated with Jackaby’s keen sight into the world in which she lives. On her unofficial interview, Jackaby brings her to a brutal murder scene that screams paranormal. While Abigail is slightly terrified about this strange new world that she is unfamiliar with, the adventure in her is sure that she can help Jackaby solve the case!

Jackaby is 299 pages long and took me 2 days to read.

I absolutely loved this book and am giving it a 4 out of 5 for its truly lovable characters and dark but funny plot.

I highly recommend to anyone that loves a mystery and unusual characters! I will ABSOLUTELY be reading the rest of the series!

Thank you Algonquin for sending me this copy!

Here’s to the adventure of finding a novel novel!
