I Let You Go-Clare Mackintosh

I love Clare Mackintosh. I realized that I hadn’t published my review for “I Let You Go” and knew I had to get on it right away!

Jenna Gray is running from her past that was left in shambles by a hit and run. But it seems as though no matter how far she runs, her past is right behind her, haunting her and her every day actions.

I Let You Go is 371 pages long and took me 3 days to read.

Because I read Clare Mackintosh’s second novel “I See You” first, I was all amped up to read I Let You Go. Clare did not disappoint. I’m giving this story a 3.5 out of 5. I did not see the twist coming and thoroughly enjoyed following along in my unknowing bliss until the twist smacks you in the face.

Blackout-Marc Elsberg

I’m one of millions that loves a “end of the world” story and the idea of a global blackout is particularly scary to me.

Blackout follows several nations as they struggle to get the world back on the grid after a calculated attack which leaves the world in the dark.

Blackout is 313 pages and took me five days to read.

I’m giving this book a 2.5 out of 5. While I liked the idea of the plot, it was hard for me to follow along because there were so many countries and characters to keep track of. That’s a completely personal “negative” and I’m sure others wouldn’t find it as difficult.

The Wild Inside- Jamey Bradbury

I’ve always had a fascination with Alaska and their outdoorsy and rugged way of life. Obviously that’s a generalization and Alaska has large cities but it’s the country people that I’m interested in. Especially when it comes to their dogs.

The Wild Inside is a story of Tracy who has grown up with the gene of racing in the Iditarod. Her sole goal over the past 17 years has been as much. So when she sees an opportunity to chase her dreams, even if she puts her family in a difficult, she’ll do what she has to to compete.

The Wild Inside is 288 pages and took me five days to read.

I’m giving this book at 3.5 out of 5. Although it took me longer than normal to read a book of this size, I really enjoyed the experience and the character herself. Tracy has a unique voice that deserves to be heard and I’m really happy I read this book.

Pines-Blake Crouch

I’d only heard about the Wayward Pines TV show prior to reading this book but LOVED Dark Matter so much that I knew I’d adore pretty much anything Blake Crouch wrote. Pines did not disappoint.

Wayward Pines is the perfect town, too perfect. When Secret Service agent Ethan Burke gets into a car accident while entering Wayward Pines to investigate two missing Secret Service agents, he finds himself unable to leave the small town. Not due to its beauty and perfection but because there is literally no way out.

Pines is 303 pages long and took me four days to read.

I’m giving this book a 4 out of 5 because I’m so intrigued by where this story is headed. It is such an interesting plot and I can’t wait read the rest of this trilogy!

The Family Next Door-Sally Hepworth

Domestic drama!!!!!

The Family Next Door follows Essie, our main character who is struggling with motherhood and her neighbors Ange, Fran and Isabelle who each have their own struggles. The problems that plague each woman have their own twisted way of coming out in this domestic drama that will leave you with your jaw open.

The Family Next Door is 335 pages long and took me four days to read.

This book is super entertaining and would make for a great vacation book! I’m giving it a 3 out of 5 for this scandalous narrative!

The Plea-Steve Cavanagh

Because I’m truly an obnoxiously huge fan of John Grisham I feel as though I can say that I feel like Steve Cavanaugh channeled him while writing The Plea which is the highest compliment I can pay an author.

The Plea follows our defense lawyer lead, Eddie Flynn as he fights the most difficult case of his life. Not simply because it is the most high profile but because its Eddie’s wife only way to stay out of prison. Eddie is given the impossible task of convincing his billionaire client, David Child, to plead guilty to murdering his girlfriend. The only hold up is Mr. Child could actually be innocent.

The Plea is 358 pages long and took me 3 days to read.

I’m giving this novel a 4.5 out of 5. I loved EVERYTHING about this book from its page turning writing to the incredible “Jake Brigance” feel of Eddie Flynn. I will recommend this to any and everyone and very much look forward to reading more of Steve Cavanaugh!

The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore- Kim Fu

One of my resolutions was to read outside of my “thriller” comfort zone. While this book is certainly thrilling, it’s in a much more literary form. And there’s no murdering. Lol

The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore follows 5 of the campers lives while simultaneously revealing the events that took place at the camp that set them in their, not always pleasant, path.

Forevermore is 248 pages long and took me 5 days to read.

I want to start by saying I’m giving this book a 3.5 out of 5. It’s one of those books that sits with you after you’ve finished and makes you reflect on what you’ve read. For being a shortish book, I somewhat struggled while reading it and looking back I feel as though it’s because these girls seem so real. Their life after camp seems so plausible and because of that, heartbreaking. I didn’t necessarily ENJOY reading it, I’m very glad I did and will be recommending it.

Force of Nature-Jane Harper

When I read The Dry by Jane Harper I was blown away that it was her first novel. I fell in love with her story telling and was a huge fan of her character Agent Aaron Faulk. I was so excited to read the second in the series, Force of Nature, that comes out today!

When a semi cooperating witness giving information about her current employer to Agent Aaron Faulk goes missing in the Australian outback during a business team building exercise, Aaron does everything he can to find his missing witness and close his case.

Force of Nature is 329 pages long and took me 4 days to read.

I love Jane Harper and her incredible ability to weave a fascinating story. I give Force of Nature a 4 of 5 and would recommend to all!
