This Might Hurt- Stephanie Wrobel

Natalie knows now that she must intervene. After all, what kind of place blackmails their “student’s” relatives?

This Might Hurt is 319 pages long and took me four days to read.

The longer this book sat with me, the more I enjoyed it. I’m giving it a 3.5 out of 5! The character’s backstories are fascinating and pairing it up with the current circumstances in the book makes for a great read! This is a book you should snuggle up with on a cold winter night and be thankful that you’re inside!

Dead Silence- S.A. Barnes

Claire wakes up in a strange room in what appears to be a hospital. She knows that the other things that she sees in the hospital aren’t real. The ghosts of her crew are staring back at her with knowing gazes. She wasn’t supposed to make it off of the Aurora, a famously lost luxury space ship that the crew had discovered with the intent of salvaging and cashing out. When Claire is pressed on what happened, she can’t seem to remember how this seemingly easy discovery could have gone so south. All she knows is that she can’t allow anyone to breach the ship because she does remember the blood, whispers and overwhelming fear that hit her the moment she stepped foot on the cursed Aurora.

Dead Silence is 329 pages long and took me two days to read.

I can’t give higher praise for this book than giving it a 5 out of 5! It was one of my favorite books I read in 2021 and is genuinely a unique horror that I won’t ever be able to forget! If you enjoy reading books that feel like you’re in a movie and also being scared, look no further!

Marion Lane and the Deadly Rose- T.A. Willberg

The second book in the Marion Lane series leaves off in the dangerous underground world of Miss Brickett’s Investigations and Inquires. After Marion’s troublesome first year at Miss Brickett’s, she is relieved to have some downtime to focus on learning her role within the group. But the Inquirers get asked to work on “The Florist” murder who brands his victim with a rose. Marion is assigned to the case and is receiving helpful hints from a mysterious informer. She doesn’t feel she can fully trust this anonymous person but knows she must once again put herself in danger to stop the killer and to prove herself worthy of being an Inquirer.

The Witching Tree is 324 pages long and took me five days to read.

I’m giving this book a 3.5 out of 5! This was the first I’ve read of Alice Blanchard and I will absolutely be going back and reading the first two books in this series. It’s creepy and atmospheric and I really enjoyed reading from inside Natalie’s head.

I hadn’t read Lars Kepler before and wasn’t sure what to expect but this book is brutal in the best way! I’m giving it a 4 out of 5! If you’re not into torture or gore you should skip this book but if you can hang then this is a must read!

Last Seen Alive-Joanna Schaffhausen

In the suspenseful fifth book of the Ellery Hathaway series, we find the detective caught up her most dangerous assignment yet, facing off with her former attempted murderer Francis Coben. If you haven’t started this series already then you absolutely need to. This book is my favorite so far and I’m giving it a 5 out of 5! I loved everything about this twisty-turny action-packed story. Ellery is so compelling and feels so real. Joanna Schaffhausen has done it again!
